1-5 October 2009 Sydney Convetion Centre

Sydney

Following the enormous success of the 2007 Conference Week in Cairns, the APA will be hosting its 2009 Conference Week in Sydney.

Conference Week provides a forum for the sharing of ideas, presentation of research findings, and discussion of professional issues relevant to the practice of physiotherapy. It brings together conferences previously conducted independently by 11 national groups. The great advantage of this arrangement is that delegates have the opportunity to attend a wide variety of sessions.

Highlights of the conference will include keynote addresses from world-leading researchers and novel sessions designed to help clinicians catch up with findings from the rapidly growing bodies of clinical research in their own and other sub-disciplines. There will also be free papers, the popular "5 x 5" sessions first introduced at the last Conference Week, and a series of workshops. We anticipate a record number of delegates and presentations.

On Saturday 3rd October, delegates from most of the APA’s National Groups will come together for common sessions. These sessions provide an opportunity to break down the intellectual and professional barriers which sometimes artificially separate sub-disciplines.

Conference week would not be possible without the hard work of the scientific committees. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the scientific committees who have assembled the programs for the Musculoskeletal, Sports, Gerontology, Neurology, Cardiorespiratory, Continence and Women’s Health, Occupational Health, Paediatrics, Acupuncture and Dry Needling, Animal, and Aquatic Physiotherapy conferences.

To all of you first-time conference delegates, novice presenters, and experienced conference-goers and presenters alike, I welcome you to APA Conference Week 2009.
