Paediatric Physiotherapy: Extending Our Horizons

Sydney, 1-3 October 2009

On behalf of the National Paediatric Group (NPG) it is our pleasure to invite you to attend the 8th Biennial Paediatric Conference at APA Conference Week 2009 in Sydney. Our theme “Paediatric Physiotherapy: Extending Our Horizons” has been chosen to facilitate a strong focus on practice development encompassing both clinical and professional outcomes while continuing to apply science to practice.

The NPG Scientific Committee is proud to announce our keynote speaker will be Dr Richard Lieber, a world renowned physiologist who is on the faculty of the University of California, San Diego where he studies structure-function relationships in skeletal muscle. Dr Lieber will open our conference on Thursday and will be the plenary speaker at a joint session with the National Neurology Group on Friday.

We are planning an inspiring program for Thursday and Friday to appeal to physiotherapists working in the many and varied sub-specialties and settings of paediatric physiotherapy. We will be calling for free papers as well as 5 x 5 presentations (5 slides in 5 minutes). We have embraced the APA Conference Week format while maintaining our proud tradition of sharing our experiences as a group. The inaugural collaborative Saturday program will combine all Conference Week delegates in the Bayside Auditorium and is not to be missed. Kristy Rose will be presenting the “7 years in 7 minutes” paediatric research in a nutshell address.

A NPG pre-conference workshop is being considered for Wednesday 30 September and the AJP Writing for Publication Workshop is on the APA Conference Week program for Friday at 1.30 -3.00 and Sunday at 11.00-12.30.

The social program includes both a cocktail function on Friday evening and a Sydney Harbour Cruise and after-party on Saturday evening.

Keep watching the conference website for program updates and start planning now to include the Paediatric Conference at APA Conference Week 2009 in your professional development calendar.

We look forward to seeing you there!
