New Frontiers in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

Sydney, 1-3 October, 2009

On behalf of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Australia, it is our pleasure to invite you to attend the 16th Biennial Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Australia Conference in Sydney.

The focus of this conference is on optimising patient management, following on from the 15th Biennial Conference in Cairns, which focussed on applying the science to practice. This conference will embed that science into various treatment approaches. Here are some examples of what is on offer:

* individualising treatment using classification and/or diagnosis, presented by some the world’s leading researchers in this area, Prof Julie Fritz (US), Prof Gwen Jull (Australia) and Dr Mark Laslett (NZ)

* latest in treatment for knee pathology presented by internationally recognised speakers Prof Chris Powers (US), Jenny McConnell (Australia), and Dr Marlene Fransen (Australia)

* new directions in managing shoulder disorders, presented by Prof Rachelle Buchbinder (Australia)

* motor control of the hip and its contribution to musculoskeletal problems in the spine and lower limb, presented by leading Australian researchers Prof Paul Hodges, Prof Kim Bennell, Dr Kay Crossley and Dr Alison Grimaldi

As we continue to transition into the new format of Conference week, a priority has been to ensure all the important MPA traditions are upheld. There will be an Open Forum for Members (breakfast session) and the traditional MPA Members dinner on a chartered cruiser on the Sydney harbour.

A new feature of this conference is the involvement of the MPA Specialists in the planning of the scientific program, ensuring that delegates are presented with the very latest in both science and clinical practice at MPA 2009. This includes a Master Class for Titled Members (included in your registration) on the evening prior to the conference opening - details will follow.

We look forward to seeing you in Sydney in 2009!
