Animal Physiotherapy Group

Sydney, 3-5 October 2009

I would like to take this opportunity to invite you all to attend the Animal Physiotherapy Group Conference to be held from the 3rd-5th October 2009 at the Sydney Convention Centre. Although we are only a small group, we are very happy to be a part of APA Conference Week 2009 and hope many of you will take this opportunity to not only update yourselves on the latest scientific research happening in the world of animal physiotherapy, but also to gain further knowledge from experienced animal physiotherapy clinicians.

Our Keynote speaker is Dr Richard Mitchell, an experienced small animal specialist veterinary surgeon from Queensland. He will present on arthroscopic surgery in the canine, and on palpation techniques used in the diagnosis of canine meniscal injuries.

Both Leigh McCutcheon and Alison Grimaldi, well know (human) physiotherapist have agreed to present for us on acupuncture and hip stability, adapting their presentations to be of interest to our group.

Other invited speakers include Lesley Goff and Helen Nicholson, both of whom have been undertaking PhD studies in animal related research and will be presenting some of their findings. Other speakers include several University of Queensland Masters Animal Physiotherapists.

I believe that this conference will give us all a wonderful opportunity to gain knowledge, share ideas and provide an insight into ‘animal physiotherapy’ for those physiotherapists interested in entering the profession.

I look forward to meeting you all.
