1-5 October 2009 Sydney Convetion Centre

Sydney
Acupuncture and Dry Needling Group

Sydney, 3-4 October 2009

The ADNG is pleased to be part of APA Conference Week 2009 at the Sydney Convention Centre. This will be our group’s first national conference and includes some exceptional internationally renowned keynote speakers.  The two-day ADNG conference presents a balance of the latest scientific research and clinical practice in the various needling therapies.

Associate Professor Helene Langevin will present her exciting research on the dynamic cellular response to manipulation of the connective tissue architecture via acupuncture needle stimulation. Dr Langevin will also conduct a short workshop within the conference on assessment of tissue displacements during acupuncture via an ultrasound elastography technique.

We are also proud to present Dr Jay Shah who will present his ground-breaking research on the muscular chemical milieu of trigger points and the response to dry needling. As well as a short conference workshop, Dr Shah will be conducting a 1 day post-conference workshop on integrating pain mechanisms, objective findings and needling strategies for neuromusculoskeletal pain.

Keynote speaker, Mr Christopher Zaslawski, will present research on the impact of site specificity and needle stimulation on pain pressure thresholds following manual acupuncture.

Dr Mark Strudwick will present up to date research on the effect of acupuncture on the autonomic and central nervous system, including functional MRI analysis.

There will also be a number of outstanding Australian presenters who are well known in the area of acupuncture and dry needling education and who will present both lectures and condition-specific workshops throughout the 2-day conference.

Our social program is also shaping up to be entertaining including a Saturday night combined dinner cruise on Sydney Harbour with the Sports Physiotherapy Group and a cocktail function at the close of our conference on Sunday October 4th. So mark October 3rd and 4th in your 2009 diary and we will see you there!
